Silvermine Women’s WMGA Team Results

Silvermine women’s MET Team will return to Series 2 in 2020, after a season of solid results against tough competition throughout the Westchester/CT division.  Congratulations to the entire squad.

In the final standings, Silvermine placed a solid fourth.  Next year’s Series 2 participants are Siwanoy, Burning Tree, Rye, Silvermine, Greenwich and Whippoorwill.

   The final match of 2019 was held at Rye Golf Club on Friday 5.9.19, against the home team.  It was a cold and blustery morning, making the long holes, with significant elevations, even more challenging.  We took 5.5 points to Rye’s 9.5.

Match #4 of the MET Interclub League was held at Wee Burn on Tuesday 5/7.  Silvermine played a very strong team from Sleepy Hollow, and managed to eke out 4 points to their 11.   Heading into the final match of the season, the squad sits in third place of six teams.

Match #3 of the 5 match Women’s MET Interclub competition was held Thursday May 2 at Burning Tree Country Club.  Silvermine played Wee Burn CC of Darien, and walked away with a solid win, 10.5 points to 4.5.   The unexpected warm and dry conditions presented a great opportunity for our competitors to relax and exhibit their golf skills on the unfamiliar course.

The Silvermine Ladies’ MET Team played Match #2 on 4.30.19at the venerable Sleepy Hollow Country Club, Briarcliff Manor, NY. The newly renovated course is longer, with huge elevation changes and countless fairway and green-side bunkers, making for exciting and challenging golf.  SGC came out on top, 8 points to 7, of a solid team from Greenwich CC.  Match #3 is Thursday at Burning Tree CC.

The first match of the 2019 Women’s Metropolitan Golf

Association (MET) Interclub League took place at Silvermine

on Thursday April 26.  In our 19th year, the Team has had

tremendous success competing among many of the most

renowned golf and country clubs in the area. Silvermine competes

in Series 2 of 9 in the Westchester/CT Division.  Each division has

six teams, and the short 2.5 week season consists of five head to head,

no strokes, match play events.  At the end of the five

matches, the top team moves up one series,and the bottom team

moves down.  



Silvermine played the opener against Burning Tree and won

6.5 points to our opponent’s 8.5.  Our next match is

at Sleepy Hollow CC.

The 2019 roster includes Janet Karabin, Joan Evans, Bev Griffith,

Grace Hansford, Lynne Scerbo, Vyvyan Burns, Leslie Caruso,

Anne Trinklein, Donna Phillips, Vivian Sweeney, MaryJo Weiss

and Poppy Holmes.
