Women’s 18 Hole Division Rules

ARTICLE I

Purpose

Our purpose is to promote golf, sportsmanship and fellowship among our members.

ARTICLE II

Membership

  1. To qualify for membership a person must be a member in good standing of the Silvermine Golf Club and have an established USGA handicap of 36 or less. Handicaps are established by playing and posting 5 (five) 18-hole rounds at Silvermine or on any accredited USGA course. Present members are grandmothered.
  2. Membership must be renewed yearly by payment of dues set for that specific year.
  3. A person may not play until her dues have been paid.

ARTICLE III

Dues

Dues will be set by the Women’s 18 Hole Division Board prior to the opening of the golf season and will be collected by the Treasurer.

ARTICLE IV

Meetings

A meeting of all members shall be held at the opening of the golf season when new members are welcomed and informed of the season’s program.

  1. Regular business meetings of the Women’s 18 Hole Division Board shall be held three times a year. Additional meetings may be called, as necessary, at the discretion of the General Chairperson.
  2. The annual meeting shall be held at the close of the golf season.
  3. Special meetings may be called by the General Chairperson or at the request of five members of the Board or five persons from the general membership provided that written notice is given to the officers with reason(s) for calling the meeting. Notice of such meeting must be posted at least two weeks prior to the meeting.

ARTICLE V

Officers

  1. The officers shall be composed of a General Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary.
  2. The officers shall be elected for a two-year term and shall perform the duties described for them in the USGA Golf Committee Manual.

ARTICLE VI

Committees

  1. The Women’s 18 Hole Golf Division Board shall be composed of the elected officers and chairpersons of all standing committees and the Board’s representative to the Board of Governors.
  2. Board chairpersons shall be appointed by the elected officers.

ARTICLE VII

Elections

  1. The Women’s 18 Hole Division Board shall appoint a Nominating Committee of one or more members from the general membership who are not current officers or committee chairpersons.
  2. This Nominating Committee shall post a slate three weeks before the annual meeting.
  3. The slate will be voted on at the annual meeting.
  4. Robert’s Rules of Order Revised shall be parliamentary authority in all matters not specified by these Rules.

ARTICLE VIII

Amendments

These By-Laws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present at a special meeting convened for this purpose provided that written notice of the amendment(s) is posted at least two weeks before the meeting.
